Summary

Saturday morning, the top-ranked Porters traveled to Neuqua Vally for the annual mega-dual that we alternate hosting, and Lockport came away with 3 dual victories on the day.  The dual victories push the team record to a perfect 25-0 on the season thus far.  Lockport defeated the host, Neuqua Valley, by a score of 59-12 before dismantling Metea Valley, 65-6, in the second dual.  In the final dual of the day, the Porters took down 13th ranked Barrington by a final score of 50-21.

The lineup was, as one who has followed Lockport for the past two seasons, different than any other dual this season, yet again.  Abdullah Assaf, ranked 2nd at 132, was out for this dual, as was HM at 152, Zach Reese.  Matt Kronsbein returned to varsity duties at 126/132 to split the weights with HM Brendan Ramsey, while sophomore John Pacetti, who was in action at LWE on Thursday, continued to man the spot at 152 in Reese's absence.  Pacetti posted a 2-1 record on the day, dropping only a 7-3 decision to the 7th ranked wrestler in the state.

Several wrestlers posted 3-0 records on the day: Matt Ramos (106), Anthony Molton (113), Matt Kronsbein (126/132), Brandon Ramos (138), Trevell Timmons (160), Yousif Salah (195), and Ronald Tucker (285).  Of note, in this group, Matt Ramos and Yousif Salah were the only wrestlers to notch three falls on the day, with Salah earning all three in the first period, and taking just 0:14 and 0:13 for his final two pins on the day.  Ronald Tucker picked up two falls, as well as a 3-2 victory in ultimate tie breaker over 7th ranked Bobby Papiernik, earning an escape for the win about 10 seconds into the 30 second period.

The only wrestler to go 2-0 on the day was Nick Dado (170).  Dado won a close 5-4 decision against Neuqua Valley, didn't wrestle Metea, and then scored the upset of the day, defeating the 9th ranked wrestler at 170 pounds, Jake Meyer of Barrington, by a 5-4 decision.

A handful of others picked up two wins on the day, but didn't quite come out undefeated.  These include James Pierandozzi (120), Brendan Ramsey (126), Baylor Fernandes (145), John Pacetti (152), and Payton Fernandes (182).  Brendan Ramsey and Baylor Fernandes each took their losses against Barrington - Ramsey's to the 6th ranked wrestler in the state, while Baylor Fernandes took a loss by fall to the 3rd ranked wrestler.  Payton Fernandes took his loss against Neuqua while going for a move, and, quite simply, messing up and going to his own back, and was unable to get off. Pierandozzi and Sims was one of the most anticipated matches of the day - the wrestlers split matches at the Cheesehead last week by nearly identical scores (Pierandozzi won 8-2, lost 8-3).  Unfortunately, while the match was shaping up to be great, Pierandozzi took a shot while down 2-1 in the first, and Sims countered, stepping over and putting Pierandozzi on his back for the first period fall.

Also of note for the day was Mike Scurlock, a senior, making his season debut in the dual against Metea Valley.  Scurlock took the mat at 170 pounds and made the most of his first match, picking up a win by fall in 3:09.
